i really feel sad for L, lol. but honsetly that feeling of being broken down after the pandemic and opening up for a whole new world after being locked in reality circumastances is so real. i guess we get used to things very easily we ignore their coming conculsions.
yeah i think that's exactly the right take — it's very easy to cultivate one's own world by ignoring the other people around you, and it was so easy to spiral into delusions during the pandemic and sure, others (for good reason) will try and break them out of it, but when a person cocoons themselves in such a way there's always a risk that they'll be broken by the encounter, when the window is thrown open and all of the things they've built their personality around evacuates the scene
The pandemic was a truly harrowing time; + not just because of the disease. It damaged some people in ways that still echo today, that no one willingly has words for. All those light, thin, casual social bonds folks took for granted, first broken, then gone; + now no one knows how to create anew. Too fraught with suspicion and transaction now.
Anyhow, you put me right back there for a few minutes; respect to you for that. If we make it another 20-30 years, we'll need writers like you to evoke "what it was like" then.
